Terms of Service

Last updated: March 12, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Litmus ("the Service"), operated by Naptown Labs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Litmus provides automated web accessibility scanning against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. The Service crawls websites you submit, identifies potential accessibility violations using the axe-core engine, and generates reports with remediation guidance.

3. Account Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
  • You may only scan websites you own or have explicit authorization to test.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to scan websites you do not own or have permission to scan.
  • Attempt to overwhelm, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service.
  • Resell or redistribute scan results without authorization, except for white-label reports included in your plan.
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

  • Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe.
  • All plans include a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required for the trial.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Automated accessibility scanning identifies a portion of potential WCAG 2.1 Level AA issues. Full WCAG conformance requires manual expert review and testing with assistive technologies. Litmus reports do not constitute legal advice or certification of ADA compliance.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Naptown Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Naptown Labs. Scan reports and data generated from your websites belong to you. You grant us a limited license to process your submitted URLs solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain anonymized, aggregated scan statistics.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
